Vinessa Shaw is an American model turned actress. She shot to fame after her appearance in Disney’s Holloween special movie titled ‘Hocus Pocus’. She has played prominent roles in movies like ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, ‘The Hills Have Eyes, ‘Clinical’ and the crime drama series ‘Ray Donovan.’
Vinessa Shaw Childhood & Early Life
Vinessa grew up in Los Angeles, California, to Larry Shaw and Susan Damante. Her father was a psychologist and her mother was the first runner-up at the ‘Miss America’ pageant. Vinessa sister Natalie Shaw is also an actress.
Vinessa made her silver screen debut with the thriller ‘Home Sweet Home’ (1981). In one of her interviews, she confessed to hiding her modeling and acting projects from friends as she didn’t want to get treated differently.
Vinessa Shaw’s Career
She featured in the Disney comedy series ‘The Torkelsons’ which aired on NBC television from 1991-1993. Her big break as a child actor came in the Disney horror fantasy ‘Hocus Pocus’.
During the 90s, she featured in many TV shows that include ‘Great Scott!’, ‘Fallen Angels’, ‘Country Estates’, ‘McKenna’, ‘Murder, She Wrote’, and ‘New York Undercover. She got the chance to share screen space with Tom Cruise in Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut.
Her film ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ become a cult-horror movie. Vinessa also appeared alongside Christian Bale and Russel Crowe in the Western drama ‘3:10 to Yuma’. She received lots of praises for her performance as a reporter in the Showtime drama series ‘Ray Donovan’.
Vinessa Shaw Family & Personal Life
Vinessa is a Buddhist. She married the graphic designer Kristopher Gifford in 2017. The couple has been dating each other since 2007. She is now a mother of a baby boy named Jack Hiroki Gifford. Vinessa confessed that she is terrified of horror movies and she didn’t see her horror flick ‘The Hills Have Eyes’.
