He is best known for playing Rajesh Koothrappali in the Emmy winner sitcom The Big Bang Theory. He is the voice behind Vijay on the animated sitcom Sanjay and Craig. Nayyar’s other works include The Scribbler, Consumed, Continental Drift, Dr. Cabbie, Sweetness in the Belly, and Trolls.

Kunal was born in London. However, both Kunal and Neha grew up in New Delhi. When they first time met their common background helped them to connect immediately.
When the duo’s first meeting took place in India, Nayyar was already acting in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
Love at First Sight – Neha Kapur And Kunal Nayyar
Kunal and Neha first met in the year 2008 in Delhi. Their meeting took place at a lunch party at a bar. They were introduced to each other by their mutual friends. Recalling the incident Neha said: “Kunal was visiting India, and my friend called me, saying, “Oh, this great guy is visiting from America.” There was a party at a bar, and I saw Kunal dressed all LA, the star; the glasses…”.
When the first time Neha saw Kunal, she recalls “he was wearing a trucker hat, cutoff gloves, hipster glasses, and a scarf”. Neha admits that at the time she was not impressed with Kunal’s accessories and was ignorant of his popularity. However, Kunal’s first impression of her future wife was somewhat different. When Kunal first saw Neha, his first thought was “This is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen”. His second thought too on a similar line, which was “She’s way out of my league.”

In their first meeting, the duo talked about their childhood experiences in New Delhi. They also talked about a wide range of topics and felt they had much in common. This feeling of instant connection was not momentary. After spending their evening together in the bar, the duo also spent the next nine days together. After spending nine days together Kunal returned to LA, but he was serious in his relationship with Neha. Kunal invited Neha to visit him in LA, which Neha did, just three weeks after Kunal’s departure from India.
In an interview with People Magazine, Kunal described his first meet with Neha. He said he was overcome by a curious feeling of calmness while conversing with his future wife. He added, “I just felt so sure and so comfortable. Not even poetry could explain how I felt about this woman.”

Neha Kapur & Kunal Nayyar wedding took place in their hometown Delhi on December 22, 2011. The wedding was very grand and traditional in style. Kunal even rode on a white horse, a traditional ceremonial act, during his wedding. Unlike typical weddings, Kunal and Neha’s wedding took a complete six days instead of just one day. The wedding consisted of many interesting ceremonies and fun celebrations.
When Kunal was on “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” he commented about his wedding: “They take six days. They can take seven; I think we ran out of money. One day is the henna festival, one day is the cocktail festival, and one day is the actual wedding, then the reception. I just wish I could go back to my wedding as a guest.” He also remarked that his wedding was attended by over 1000 guests.
In an interview with Vogue, Kunal shared his favorite moment during his wedding, saying: “My favorite moment was seeing Neha for the first time that day. It still gives me the shivers to think of how beautiful she looked. There was something more than physical beauty at play when she was walking. It was spiritual, she was a vision. I will never forget that till the day I die.”
