Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap is that beautiful love couple of the B-town that everyone talks about and finds adorable. The Paani Da fame Ayushmann has been in a relationship with Tahira for over 14 years and is married for almost 10 years and it feels that they still are in their honeymoon phase.
The Beginning of Ayushmann Khurrana & Tahira’s Love Story
Ayushmann and Tahira, both are from Chandigarh. They crossed each other’s paths multiple times but nothing happened until they enrolled for the same tuition in class 12th. Tahira admitted that she saw Ayushmann in her Physics coaching class and she and her friend had a crush on her. Although she ignored him for the entire year, she later got to know that even he shared similar feelings.
On the same topic, Ayushmann commented that when he got to know that Tahira had a crush on him, he couldn’t believe as there were many other good looking guys in the coaching and Tahira was too beautiful for him. He was on cloud nine after knowing that the girl, who everybody had a crush on, has a crush on him.
Turns Out to be Family Friends
They both obviously liked each other but never confessed it. But one evening, Tahira’s father took her to a family friend’s place for dinner and it turned out that it was Ayushmann’s house. And finally, they utilized the moment and talked to each other. Remembering that night, Ayushmann said that he played along normally and did not let her know that he in fact had a crush on her. And Tahira was just more and more attracted by his charm, wit and singing.
After the completion of their high school, they started dating. Both pursued master’s degree in Punjab University but from different colleges. Their relationship was more of a competition where they would fight against each other in debate and drama competitions across colleges. They both were interested in theatre and later joined the theatre group.
Wedding Bells
The couple always knew that their relationship will end up in marriage but when Ayushmann confessed that he wanted to become an actor, Tahira gave up all hopes. But at the same time, she stood by him through his struggling days. She knew that her parents wouldn’t be accepting of marrying an “actor” and the idea of their daughter leading such a life in Mumbai.
But their love was obviously strong enough to overcome all these problems. Ayushmann proposed to her like gentleman with a ring, flowers, music in the background, wine, etc in 2011 and later the same year, the cute couple got married.
Life After Success
Ayushmann once said in an interview that “When I got married, I had no money. Tahira has been doing better than me professionally for the longest time. She was gutsy enough to marry a man just for love and have faith in his talent… She supported me in every possible way. I was a struggling actor, which is often a gamble. But there was never any ego between us. When there’s love, there’s no scope for ego. “
There was a huge test of life waiting for the couple after they got married. As Ayushmann was still in his struggling days, the couple had to be in a long distance relationship. Ayushmann was in Mumbai and Tahira stayed back in Chandigarh. Things went on like this till Ayushmann finally got his big break as the lead actor in Vicky Donor, which was a huge success.
After the success of Vicky Donor, Tahira revealed that the moment she saw Ayushmann on the big screen, she travelled back in time when he first said that he wanted to be an actor. And Tahira had laughed as she did not expect the song (Pani Da) that he has been singing for 9 years, would be such a hit.
Tahira is now a director-producer by profession and she has even directed a short film called Toffee which was produced by her dear hubby, Ayushmann. She soon wants to enter the world directing feature films.
The couple welcomed their first guest, a baby boy in 2012. They named him Virajveer and two years later, in 2014 they were blessed with a baby girl, Varushka.
The Dark Times
The last quarter of 2018 was not good for this dreamy couple as Tahira was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ayushmann was heartbroken but he had to be strong for her and for the kids. Tahira, as Ayushmann says, was really strong throughout the process and it was actually her who gave him all the strength and inspiration.
Even Tahira admitted that because of the constant support of Ayushmann and how calm and comforting he was throughout the journey, it was easy for her to getting through it.
The happy news is that Tahira defeated the cancer and came out as a victorious and more confident person. Talking about the experience, Ayushmann says that “I think I have started looking life in a different way altogether. I’m more happy has a persona, I’m more patient as a person. Small things don’t bother me anymore because with an issue like that you have to have a very healthy and happy state of mind because you are also working at the same time, two films were releasing and she was in the hospital.”
Present Life
After over a decade of being together, Ayushmann believes that it is one of his greatest achievements that he is married to Tahira Kashyap and it is difficult to find a girl like her. She was a pillar of support through his thick and thins and during his struggling days. Ayushmann even admits that he is more childish and values her advice more as she is mature.
Tahira, on the other hand, believes that Ayushmann has evolved as a person and as a partner since the time they were dating. She believes that he is an amazing human being and she loves him for his personality which is not just reflected in his role as a husband, but also as a friend, a son, a father, and more.
The life of this couple has had its share of ups and downs and they have never failed to inspire us and hence we wish happiest life ahead and success to this adorable family.
